Description
The Financial Aid Counselor position is unclassified reporting to the Director of Financial Aid.
Responsibilities and Duties
Possess up-to-date knowledge of all federal, state and institutional financial aid programs.
Counsel with students and parents concerning financial aid programs and services.
Assist students with the completion of applications.
Conduct verification of applications selected for review.
Correspond with students requesting information about financial aid.
Supervise student workers.
Participate in activities designed for student recruitment and retention.
Provide financial aid presentations when requested.
Possess the ability to manually award students financial aid when required.
Assume responsibility for loan processing, scholarship processing, pell grant processing, as needed.
Perform other administrative duties as assigned.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
