Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences or Engineering and one (1) year of experience in a biological, chemical, or biomedical research laboratory and actively working in a research laboratory or research environment with supervision.
2. A Master's degree in a discipline involving work in a research laboratory environment can be substituted for the one year of experience in a research laboratory.

Job Concepts:
The primary duties of this position will be conducting experiments related to mouse models of atrial fibrillation and other cardiac arrhythmias, to determine the influence of genetic mutations on susceptibility to cardiac arrhythmias, and heart failure. This person will analyze intra-cardiac electrograms(EEG), surface electrocardiography (ECG), and plethysmography recordings to identify abnormalities due to genetic mutations and or pharmacological interventions. This person will conduct PCR genotyping of mouse tail DNA and analyze the results by gel electrophoresis. This person will perform and analyze immunohistochemistry experiments on tissue sections, as well as occasional RNA or protein work. This person will perform mouse pharmacology experiments that involve mouse handling and drug injections. This person will generate figures based on data collected. Finally, this person will assist in maintaining the day-to-day functioning of the lab, such as ordering of supplies, maintenance of equipment, and cleaning of glassware.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
